Single Tooth Implants in Tuggerah

Our Bluewater Dental team is committed to helping you maintain your smile for life. Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth, and can be an ideal restoration for patients missing a tooth.

What Is It?

A titanium screw is surgically placed in the bone below the missing tooth. This screw fuses with the jawbone to create an artificial tooth root. Once it has healed, we place a crown over the “root,” replacing the missing tooth. Because the screw is now part of your bone, this is an extremely strong restoration and can last for decades with proper oral hygiene.

Unlike dentures, this is a permanent restoration, so you don’t remove it. And unlike a bridge, an implant can help prevent future bone loss.

Patients must have adequate bone for the procedure to be successful. In some cases, another procedure, such as a bone graft or sinus lift, will have to be done first, to create a situation in which the implant will work. We refer to specialists for these issues.

What to Expect

We’ll start with a thorough examination, including taking impressions to create a study model. We’ll refer you to the imaging centre downstairs for a CT scan to determine whether you are a candidate for this type of restoration, and to determine the size and direction of the screw.

At your next appointment, we’ll place the implant, which is a painless procedure. You’ll leave that for three months to heal, then you’ll return in so we can take impressions for the crown. Once the lab has fabricated the crown, we’ll screw it onto the implant, seal it, and you’re done!
